Regranulated latex powder can enhance the bonding strength of tile adhesive.
In tile laying projects, problems such as hollowing, detachment, cracking, and water seepage are common construction difficulties. However, regranulated latex powder, as the core functional additive of tile adhesive, effectively compensates for the shortcomings of traditional cement mortar and becomes a key material for improving the laying quality. When combined with standard construction techniques, it can make the tiles bond more firmly and have a longer service life.Redispersible Latex Powder RDX8012 another name: Adhesive RDP powder, vae redispersible powder,Water proofing RDP powder,Vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer, Flexible RDP powder,Redispersible latex Powder,VAE emulsion powder, styrene acrylic copolymer polyvinyl acetate, redispersible polymer powder RDP,Polymer Binder Powder,Polimero redispersible en polvo. It is a copolymer powder of vinyl acetate and ethylene which is easy dispersible in water and has good saponification resistance.
The performance improvement of tile adhesive by regranulated latex powder is remarkable. When dry powder latex powder comes into contact with water, it will re-disperse into polymer emulsion. After the mortar solidifies, it will form a continuous high-molecular gel layer, closely connecting the wall base, tiles, and mortar aggregates, significantly enhancing the bonding strength and easily adapting to low-water-absorption building materials such as glazed tiles, large-format tiles, and stone materials. At the same time, the polymer gel layer has elasticity and can counteract the stress caused by temperature changes and slight building settlement, improving the flexibility and crack resistance of the mortar, and reducing the occurrence of hollowing and cracking from the source. Moreover, the latex powder can fill the capillary pores in the mortar, strengthening waterproofing, anti-seepage, and weather resistance, and is highly suitable for special areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, exterior walls, and floor heating surfaces. It can also improve the workability of the mortar, enhance the anti-slip effect, and make on-site construction more convenient.
To fully utilize the value of regranulated latex powder, scientific proportioning and standard construction are both indispensable. Regular tile adhesive is mainly composed of cement and quartz sand, and is combined with 2% to 5% of regranulated latex powder and various additives. The mixing ratio can be flexibly adjusted according to the construction scenario. All dry powder raw materials need to be fully mixed and blended, and the finished tile adhesive must be stored in a sealed and moisture-proof manner to avoid the powder absorbing moisture and forming lumps and losing its effectiveness.
When mixing the slurry on-site, strictly follow the standard powder-to-water ratio and add water for stirring. Stir twice until the slurry is uniform and smooth. Do not add extra water randomly, as it will damage the structure of the gel layer. Before construction, thoroughly clean the base surface, remove dust and oil stains, and dry the base surface by sprinkling water in advance to make the base surface loose. It is recommended to apply a primer on both sides of the tiles to enhance adhesion. Use a toothed scraper to evenly apply the tile adhesive on the base surface. For exterior walls and large-sized tiles, double-sided scraping is recommended to ensure that the back of the tiles is also fully covered with the adhesive. After placing the tiles in place, press and tap firmly to remove air and adjust the flatness and brick joints in time.
The curing work after tile laying is also crucial. Do not step on or splash water within 24 hours. Avoid construction in harsh environments such as low temperatures, strong winds, and direct sunlight exposure. Wait until the tile adhesive is fully cured before carrying out the grouting work.
A good material paired with a good process can create a high-quality tile finish. Reasonable use of regranulated latex powder and strict adherence to each construction detail can maximize the performance of the material and completely avoid common problems in laying, ensuring the long-term stability of the tiles.
